At Northern Plains Erosion Control (NPEC) we support your projects whether they’re big or small.
We’ve worked with ND DOT to supply erosion control products for Interstate I-94 from Richardton to Hebron. NPEC supplied products for McKenzie County Route 37 and 125 and Dunn County 101 Ave road construction.
We supplied certified weed seed free straw for ROW pipeline from New Town to Williston.
We’ve also provided erosion control products for several roads and reclaimed oil well pads throughout the Bakken Oilfield.

Northern Plains Erosion Control began in 2012 established initially to fulfill a demand for straw wattles by the North Dakota Transportation Department. German machinery was purchased to make wattles and the new company began producing weed seed free wattles in Belfield, North Dakota.
A few years later, Steven Klym became a co-owner and then purchased the business which is still located in the Belfield warehouses.
The company delivers their straw wattles, erosion blankets, and straw bales within the tri-state region of Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is certified weed-seed free?
Producers may choose to have hay/straw acreage inspected by the North Dakota Agriculture Department in order to use or sell it as certified weed seed free forage or mulch. The acreage must be inspected no more than 10 days before harvest and meet standards set forth by the North American Invasive Species Management Association (NAISMA). Noxious weeds actively producing viable seed cannot be present in certified forage.

Straw Wattles come in three widths and two lengths.

What are the erosion blanket widths?
The erosion blankets come in two widths:

They come in several sizes.
Do I need a CDL license to rent equipment?
No, a commercial license is not needed but a current driver’s license is required to rent the equipment.
